Shiatsu Explained

Shiatsu awakens the energy within
Shiatsu is a treatment based on the knowledge of of Chinese medicine. Like accupuncture, shiatsu uses the body's energy points to restore lost balance and regain healing power.
By applying pressure with the hands, thumbs and elbows to points on the body, shiatsu works on the person's energy, as well as stretching and mobilizing joints.
Ki is considered the life force within each of us, driving the vital organs and our energy levels. It follows meridians and the access points are called tsubos.
Recharging the meridians with Ki can initiate deep healing of the mind and body, releasing pain, tension and associated symptoms.

Healing process
shiatsu Healing Process

If a child falls and hurts himself, he will take comfort in the arms of his parents or his carer, perhaps cry loudly then return to play as if nothing had happened.
At this age, a child is still in touch with his ki energy. No deep tension blocks the flow and through the act of receiving comfort and reassurance, his ki energy resumes and self-healing occurs.
Traumas arise when physical and emotional shocks have not been acknowledged and the body has not been able to self-heal, building up tension. Over time, additional shocks and tensions accumulate and the body is increasingly less able to self-heal. It becomes more and more difficult for this life force to circulate within the body. These deep tensions can create chronic pain and lead to illness. Shiatsu pressure allows us to awaken this dormant life energy within.
Over a series of sessions, tensions are released and traumas alleviated. The number of sessions required varies as we are all unique, each with own rhythm and personality but the sense of self-healing begins immediately.
shizendo-shiatsu

I receive many women who have had cosmetic surgery or Botox, which saddens me because these practices do not respect the nature of our tissues and are intrusive, which can cause real problems with energy circulation. In addition, I am for natural beauty, respectful of nature. Shizendo is deeper than a facial massage, because it includes the relaxation of tensions that impact our facial tensions and can cause sagging of the tissues. The work carried out on the facial tissues allows the circulation of subcutaneous fluids to flow more smoothly and restores the suppleness and elasticity of the tissues. Shizendo also includes an intraoral massage that allows work on the jaw joint, a joint that causes aesthetic and physical problems in almost everyone, such as contracted jaws and grinding of teeth. My knowledge of shiatsu allows me to add the regulation of the flow of vital energy to accompany the work of shizendo with deep energetic support. The Shizendo-Shizendo combination provides natural lifting and meridian treatment.
Do-In

I started to practice do-in during my shiatsu training, before starting to learn, we worked on circulating our own energy through stretching, breathing and self-shiatsu. This practice allows me to stay in shape and to be able to communicate healthy energy to my patients. And why not share this knowledge with them? So that they can acquire a certain autonomy and learn the secrets of energy circulation on themselves. This is why I began to transmit these exercises developed by Shizuto Matsunaga Sensei, founder of iokai shiatsu. Matsunaga Sensei, after spending years treating people with his Shiatsu realized that although Shiatsu was a very effective healing method, it required another step of personal participation to achieve perfect health.
"My do-in routine takes me between 20 and 30 minutes a day and allows me to maintain my energy at a high level, to have erased my back pain, and to remain flexible and agile."

Alice Rigot
Born and raised in France, Alice began practising Zen meditation in 1996, and it was at a Zen dojo in Paris that she met a great Japanese shiatsu master, Sasaki Sensei, who came to teach shiatsu.
She was moved by this healing practice, and for the next 5 years, she trained herself in the art of shiatsu.
It was much later in Lisbon that, curious to broaden her knowledge, she learned the shizendo method from Alberto Gomez.
